Today's gripe

OK, this is really picky, but have you noticed lately that television broadcasters seem to be having more and more trouble synchronizing the audio and visual components of their programs?
I just can't stand to see someone's lips moving a half-second behind or ahead of the words they are speaking. It's like watching a poorly dubbed foreign movie. It's confusing and distracting. So, fix it, already.

What kind of TV are you using? Do you have basic cable, digital cable, or satellite service?

Some broadcasts are out of sync from the source (HDNet had a problem with this)...

It could also be due different cable mediums used to send audio and video from a set top box to the tv

Some TV's themselves have sync settings that allow you to tweak the AV coming out of them to get things back in line...

There are a lot of variables, and some of them DO end up being attributed to the end-user and not the source

It'sworse when they have captions spelled wrong.

Interesting, that it could be a problem at my end, although I don't think that's the case. I have two TVs, one gets reception from an antenna (yes, there are still some of us out there!) and the other I can switch back and from from Comcast cable to my antenna. I prefer my rotating antenna because we live high on a hill and can get crystal-clear reception of the Pittsburgh channels - better than cable reception. The synchronizing problem is evident on both TV sets, on cable and on antenna.
